BUFFALO MOZZARELLA AND ANNURCA APPLES

A vast plain, crowned by the Matese mountains and crossed by rivers that flow majestically down to the sea. Fertile and welcoming, like the womb of Mater matuta, the goddess of Aurora and fertility to whom the ancient Italic populations were devoted, who found the ideal conditions in that land to settle and progress. Oscan, Etruscan, Samnite peoples and, first of all, the Leborini, from whom Pliny the Elder borrowed the names Laboriae and Campi Laborini referring to the large area between the Aurunci Mountains to the north and the Campi Flegrei to the south. Largely corresponding to the ager campanus, the thriving territory of Capua, the oldest city of Rome, which in the fifth century BC, its heyday, was second only to the Urbe.

Itinerary guide

With the ancient denomination Campania felix, which included a much larger territory, we indicate the province of Caserta, the northernmost of Campania and third in terms of number of inhabitants, which borders on Lazio, Molise, the Province of Benevento and the Metropolitan Area of Naples. Its 2,651 square kilometers include 104 Municipalities. It can be reached by various railway lines, including internal connections, with the Autostrada del Sole A1 Milano Napoli and with the A30 Caserta Salerno. It is served on the coastal strip by the Domitiana state road SS 7 quater and in the interior by the Ponti della Valle state road SS 265 and by the State road of the Reggia di Caserta SS 700.
