POMPEI E VESUVIO
The plume of gray smoke on Vesuvius, the bewitching volcano that soars over the views of the Neapolitan Gulf has long since disappeared. But the grandeur of the cone which is reflected in the sea, at sunrise or sunset, dazzles the eye which then gets lost in the teeming theory of the metropolitan belt, glides over the smooth lava, and creeps through the thick woods, the agricultural hills and the golden vineyards that crown the mountain. From this vision an idea of fascinating complexity is released because, beyond the icon and the myth, beyond painting and poetry, one perceives a territorial heritage full of surprises to be known with a new sensibility, and to be fully exploited.
